Nigerian content creator Peller reveals a surprising shift in audience preferences, stating his polished English videos struggled to gain views, while content in broken English and a "dull" persona garnered thousands of viewers.

Content creator Peller recently sparked a debate about the type of content Nigerians prefer. In an interview, he revealed that his videos in polished English struggled to gain traction, with minimal views mostly from family. However, when he switched to creating content in broken English and portraying a "dull" persona, his viewership skyrocketed into the thousands.

Highlighting this trend, Nigerian political activist Ndi Kato stated that many sectors face the same challenge. Whether it’s movies, skits, or business marketing, messages often have to be simplified to appeal to the broader Nigerian audience. She noted, “This is what we prefer to consume in Nigeria: dumbed-down foolishness.”

Peller’s commentary sheds light on the social dynamics of content creation in Nigeria. He remarked, “I started my TikTok with good English but got only 10 views. When I started acting dull and speaking bad English, my views exceeded 2,000.”
