Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi joined the Muslim community in Onitsha, Anambra State, to break their Ramadan fast. A viral video captured Obi, a Christian, sitting inside the Onitsha Central Mosque, sharing a meal of jollof rice with the Muslim faithful.

Obi has consistently demonstrated support for religious harmony. In 2023, he visited Muslims in Awka during Ramadan, where he emphasized the need to address poverty, which he linked to insecurity in northern Nigeria.

During his recent visit, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to national unity, stressing that Nigerians, regardless of religion, share common aspirations. He called for investment in education and youth empowerment to tackle poverty and improve living conditions.

"The real issue is poverty. Every Nigerian, no matter their faith, wants a better life. We must work together to restore peace and prosperity," Obi stated.

Obi pledged assistance in rebuilding a primary school within the mosque premises to further support the Muslim community. He also donated food items, including canned malt, bottled water, cooked meals, and fruits, reinforcing his commitment to social welfare.

His visit was met with appreciation from the Muslim faithful, who described his gesture as a symbol of religious tolerance and unity in Nigeria.
