Bandit leader Bello Turji, in a recent video, claimed he and his associates are not afraid of death, challenging the Nigerian government’s military efforts. Turji criticized the deployment of Service Chiefs to Sokoto State and dismissed claims of seizing two Nigerian Army vehicles.

In a recent video, notorious bandit leader Bello Turji declared that neither he nor his followers fear death. Turji made this statement while threatening the Nigerian government for deploying Service Chiefs to combat his group in Sokoto State.

"If we were afraid of dying, we wouldn’t have taken up arms in the first place. Stop sending Service Chiefs after us,” Turji warned in the video, which has circulated widely online.

This comes shortly after videos surfaced showing Turji and his men celebrating the capture of two Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles (MRAPs) from the Nigerian Army. However, the Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) refuted these claims, stating that the vehicles had been demobilized after becoming stuck in swampy terrain during operations in Zamfara State.

In response to the growing banditry threat, the Minister of Defence, along with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other senior military officials, recently visited Sokoto State. The visit signals the government's determination to intensify military efforts against Turji and other criminal groups operating in the North West.

The ongoing battle between Turji’s bandits and the Nigerian military underscores the escalating security crisis in the region, as authorities prepare for further confrontations.
