In a recent episode of Arise TV's 'The Morning Show,' Rueben Abati, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, did not mince words as he criticized Seyi and Yinka Tinubu, sons of President Bola Tinubu, for what he termed as "hanging around the presidential villa like jobless invalids."
During the broadcast on Wednesday, Abati, who co-anchors the show with fellow journalists Oseni Rufai and others, expressed his dissatisfaction with the president's children and their seemingly constant presence at the seat of power. Abati questioned their occupations and urged them to take concrete steps in their lives at their current age, emphasizing the importance of independence.
"What do the president's children do for a living?" Abati pondered, adding, "I don't want adults behaving like invalids hanging around just because your father is in a position." Abati shared his achievements at a young age, highlighting that he earned a PhD at 24 without relying on his father.
The former presidential aide expressed his concern for the wives of Seyi and Yinka Tinubu, stating, "Some of these girls, what they go through is very embarrassing. You can't have a husband that's just hanging around, that cannot stand on his two feet as men."
Abati's remarks come after the President's sons join other dignitaries on an official trip to Qatar. While the purpose of their visit wasn't explicitly mentioned, Abati's criticism suggests a broader concern about the perceived lack of purpose or meaningful engagement in their lives.
As the controversy unfolds, it raises questions about the role of political families and the expectations placed on the children of high-profile figures. The story also sheds light on the dynamics within the presidential circle and the scrutiny faced by individuals connected to the nation's leaders.
