Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Borno State to offer condolences and support to victims of recent suicide bomb attacks in Gwoza LGA. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved suspected female suicide bombers and has resulted in a death toll of 32.
During his visit to Borno Specialist Hospital, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu's sympathies to the affected families and the state government. He was accompanied by several high-ranking officials, including the Director-General of NEMA and ministers of Agriculture and Transportation.
Shettima reported that 42 injured individuals were brought in from Gwoza, with 14 already discharged and 26 still receiving medical attention. He expressed gratitude to the Borno State government, NEMA, SEMA, and ICRC for their prompt response and support to the victims.
In response to the attack, authorities have imposed a curfew on Gwoza due to fears of potential further incidents. This highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region and the government's efforts to protect civilians.
