Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has surrendered to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after being declared wanted for alleged fraud. His decision follows consultations with family and legal advisors, emphasizing his commitment to clearing his name and supporting the government's anti-corruption efforts.

In April, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello wanted after he failed to respond to multiple invitations regarding an ongoing investigation. This declaration prompted EFCC officials to raid his residence in an effort to detain him.

After hours of unsuccessful attempts to arrest Bello, the EFCC called for backup from the Police and the Department of State Services (DSS). The situation intensified when Governor Usman Ododo arrived at Bello’s compound during the operation. Although he left shortly thereafter, reports emerged that Bello was still inside his vehicle on the premises.
