A tragic plane crash in Washington DC has left many in mourning, including Hamaad Raza, who is awaiting news about his wife’s fate. His 26-year-old wife was on board American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a military helicopter while approaching Reagan National Airport on January 29, 2025. The plane was just 20 minutes from landing when Raza received a text from her saying, “Landing in 20 minutes.” After that message, all attempts to contact her failed, raising the alarm.

Raza, along with family members, anxiously waited at the airport for any updates. The crash, which involved a Bombardier CRJ700 and a Sikorsky H-60 Black Hawk helicopter, has left authorities searching the Potomac River for survivors. The Black Hawk was carrying three Army soldiers, who were on a training flight. Divers have recovered at least 18 bodies, and rescue teams are continuing to survey the wreckage.

The Federal Aviation Authority confirmed the collision occurred near Runway 33. With the plane split in two and submerged in seven feet of water, rescue teams are facing an intense challenge. Despite these tragic developments, Hamaad Raza clings to hope, praying for the safe recovery of his wife from the wreckage. The emotional impact of this incident is compounded by the heartbreaking final text message that Raza received, highlighting the pain of the situation.
