FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has accused Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed of betraying the G5 governors in the PDP's power struggle before the 2023 elections. Wike claimed Mohammed initially opposed Atiku but later aligned with him. He also criticized PDP governors for failing to support the party financially and strategically.

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, betrayed an agreement within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 elections. Speaking during a media chat on March 12, 2025, Wike revealed that several PDP governors actively worked against the party’s interests.

Recalling past events, Wike stated that while serving as Rivers State governor, he fought to keep the PDP intact despite external interference. He accused Mohammed of secretly reconciling with Atiku Abubakar after initially claiming that Atiku’s presidency would endanger him.

According to Wike, the G5 governors—who opposed Atiku’s candidacy—rallied behind Bala Mohammed, only to be abandoned when he later aligned with Atiku’s camp. He described the incident as proof that political leadership requires character and integrity.

Wike dismissed speculation about his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting he remains committed to the PDP but lamented that party governors are unwilling to invest in its survival.

He also criticized Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for failing to strengthen PDP’s presence in the South-East. “You can’t claim to be a zonal leader if you can’t even secure candidates for elections,” Wike remarked.

Despite internal conflicts, Wike declared he would not leave PDP, asserting, “I don’t run from fights.” His comments have further exposed deep divisions within the party as Nigeria prepares for future elections.
