Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, proclaimed himself the best governor Rivers State has ever had. In response to former governor Peter Odili’s claims, Wike highlighted his contributions to the state's development, particularly in healthcare, dismissing allegations of turning Rivers into a personal estate.

Nyesom Wike, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, confidently declared that his tenure as Rivers State governor was the most successful in the state’s history. Speaking at a luncheon in Port Harcourt on Friday, Wike addressed the allegations made by Peter Odili, a former governor of the state, who had accused him of almost turning Rivers into a personal estate.

Odili had praised Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor, for preventing Wike from taking control of the state, but Wike rejected these claims. He emphasized his dedication to improving Rivers, particularly focusing on the health sector, where he invested in training medical professionals and aimed to position the state as a medical hub for the South-South region.

In a passionate defense, Wike asked how he could be accused of turning the state into his property when his efforts were always aimed at its development. He boldly proclaimed, “I am the best governor Rivers State has ever had.”

Additionally, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s media aide, supported his principal’s stance, stating that Odili was diminishing his credibility with such accusations. Wike’s remarks reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Rivers State during his time as governor.
