FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed to thwart Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions again, insisting he has no regrets over past political battles. Responding to Atiku’s remarks on the 2023 election, Wike’s camp reaffirmed their commitment to blocking his path to power, deepening tensions within the PDP ahead of 2027.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed to ensure that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar fails in his future presidential bids. Wike, through his media aide Lere Olayinka, dismissed Atiku’s recent remarks about not regretting his decision to overlook Wike as a running mate in the 2023 election.
Atiku had explained that he allowed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to select his vice-presidential candidate, resulting in Ifeanyi Okowa being chosen over Wike. The decision sparked tensions within the party, leading to Wike and his allies distancing themselves from Atiku’s campaign—a move widely believed to have contributed to PDP’s loss.
Reacting on social media, Olayinka stated that Wike holds no regrets over the outcome and is determined to prevent Atiku from succeeding in future elections. The renewed exchange highlights ongoing divisions within the PDP as the party grapples with internal conflicts ahead of the next electoral cycle.
