Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed to ensure that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar fails in his future presidential bids. Wike, through his media aide Lere Olayinka, dismissed Atiku’s recent remarks about not regretting his decision to overlook Wike as a running mate in the 2023 election.
Atiku had explained that he allowed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to select his vice-presidential candidate, resulting in Ifeanyi Okowa being chosen over Wike. The decision sparked tensions within the party, leading to Wike and his allies distancing themselves from Atiku’s campaign—a move widely believed to have contributed to PDP’s loss.
