Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, revokes land allocations of 568 individuals in Abuja's Maitama II area due to unpaid Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills. Prominent figures, including state governors and political leaders, are among those affected. The revocation follows the expiration of a grace period for payments.

Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has revoked the land allocations of 568 individuals in the Maitama II area of Abuja due to their failure to pay the required Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) bills. The revocation follows the expiration of a grace period granted by Wike to allow payment. Those who settled their bills by January 15, 2025, are not affected by this action.

The notice, issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), cited non-compliance with the terms of land allocation as the reason for the revocation. The affected individuals include prominent figures such as Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa, and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), along with several political leaders and former governors.

In October 2024, the FCTA published a list of 3,273 landholders in arrears, with 2,511 paying their dues, leaving 762 who failed to make payments. Wike had previously issued a two-week ultimatum to these individuals in December 2024, warning them of the impending land revocation if payments were not settled.

This move is part of Wike's ongoing effort to ensure proper management and accountability in land allocations within the Federal Capital Territory.
