Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has congratulated Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, following the tribunal's decision to uphold Okpebholo’s victory in the September 2024 governorship election. The tribunal ruling dismissed the petition filed by Asue Ighodalo, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.

In a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Wike praised the verdict as a reaffirmation of Okpebholo's mandate, urging him to stay focused on governance and not be swayed by politicians seeking to gain power through unorthodox means. Despite their affiliation with different parties — Wike being a member of the PDP and Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — the minister expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership, believing his tenure would bring significant development to Edo State. Wike’s message to Okpebholo emphasized that the ruling was a victory for the people of Edo and urged him to remain dedicated to serving them
