In a recent live media chat held in Abuja, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, addressed speculations regarding his involvement in the ongoing political strife between the Rivers State House of Assembly and Governor Sim Fubara.
Wike vehemently denied exerting influence over the assembly, asserting his focus on the task assigned by President Bola Tinubu. Despite belonging to the same Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Fubara, Wike clarified that they now reside in separate political camps.
He attributed Fubara's prolonged conflict with the assembly to his failure to uphold agreements brokered by Tinubu. Emphasizing the need for compliance with legal protocols, Wike questioned Fubara's reluctance to resubmit the 2024 budget post-court invalidation.
Criticizing certain state figures for their opportunistic alliances, Wike urged them to take responsibility for resolving the crisis. Firm in his commitment to his political roots in Rivers State, Wike dismissed suggestions of neglecting his constituency while serving in Abuja, underscoring his continued engagement with regional affairs.
