According to Wizkid, Puma initially approached him but eventually moved on after he declined their offer, stating the budget they presented was insufficient for his expectations.
Wizkid claimed that the financial terms Puma offered were better suited for Davido, leading to the latter's selection as the brand's ambassador. "I turned down Puma because they could no longer afford to pay me," he wrote in response to a critic. "The budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me, but it was cool for your client!"
