A fire broke out at Christ Apostolic Church in Wisdom Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday night during a vigil, trapping several worshippers inside. The blaze started around 9:30 pm on Olohunda Road, Lagelu Local Government Area. Eyewitnesses reported that some worshippers had already fallen asleep when the fire started.
A witness described the scene, mentioning an elderly woman who struggled to walk but was still inside as the fire raged. The Oyo State Fire Services were alerted by a resident and quickly responded to the scene.
