Ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, Zimbabwe’s head coach, Michael Nees, has expressed his appreciation for Nigeria's hospitality and state-of-the-art training facilities. Speaking to the team’s media, Nees praised the welcoming environment and exceptional accommodations provided by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

Despite a delayed arrival due to flight cancellations, Nees highlighted the spacious hotel provided for the Warriors, which was once used by Nigeria’s national team. He also praised the quality of the training pitch, describing it as soft and suitable for the intensity of their practice sessions.

“The training facilities here are excellent. We would be delighted to have something like this back in Zimbabwe,” Nees said, noting that the pitch's softness was ideal for the players’ performance. He also mentioned that while their training intensity wasn't at full capacity due to travel fatigue, the team felt well-prepared for the match against the Super Eagles.

Nees also acknowledged Nigeria’s strong squad, despite their early struggles in the qualification campaign. “Nigeria’s squad is top-class, and they will come into this match with confidence,” he stated, adding that Zimbabwe was fully committed to giving their best.

The match will be pivotal for both teams, with Nigeria needing a win to maintain their hopes in the qualifiers, and Zimbabwe aiming for an upset. The game will kick off at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo at 5:00 WAT.
