A one and a half years’ old boy, identified as Excel, has reportedly drowned in drainage on Customs Road, Biogbolo, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The incident occurred during the heavy rain which fell for more than five hours on Saturday.
The drainage, it was learnt, was dug about six months ago to link Ebi Road. A resident said the mother of the boy had travelled to the village in Edo State in the morning for the preparation of her father’s burial while the boy drowned about 1p.m.
The boy was said to be playing with his elder brother before his father decided to take a nap when the incident occurred.
The witness added that the mother left the boy in the care of a neighbour before travelling. Excel was the second son of his father, identified simply as Mr. Eric, a mechanic, who hails from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
