The convict had pleaded guilty to the three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The Prosecutor, ASP Aigbedion Obakpolor, had told the Court that the convict with others at large committed the crime on March 13, 2016 at No. 187, Sapele road in Benin.

Obakpolor said Abubakar stole goods estimated at N898,000, belonging to one Mrs Uyi Benson.

He said the offence contravened Sections 516 and 413 (2) of the Criminal Code Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976, as applicable in Edo.

The Magistrate, Mr F.O. Idiake, sentenced Abubakar to five years on each of the three counts, with no option of fine.
