Sports 2014 US Open: Andy Murray seeded eight

Murray (2).jpg Andy Murray has been seeded eighth for the 2014 edition of the US Open Grand Slam tournament which commences next week at Flushing Meadows.

The 27-year-old has not won an ATP ranking event since he won the Wimbledon Open last year.

Murray was beaten by Roger Federer in the quarter finals of the Cincinnati Masters last week, with similar exits at the Rogers cup and Wimbledon which he won last year.

Novak Djokovic is seeded number one for the tournament while Roger Federer has now been seeded number two,following the withdrawal of Rafael Nadal on Monday with an injury.

Murray's first Grand Slam win happened to be the one he won at the US Open in 2011.
