Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has debunked rumours that he had handed Ikechukwu Uche and his elder brother, Kalu an emergency call-up for Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
Some reports made the rounds on Monday that Keshi drafted back the players into the team for the game in Cape Town,however the 52-year old said that there was no truth in the report.
“I have heard it (the reports) myself and I just laughed because those who should know that we have no time between our last game and the match against Bafana Bafana are the same people misleading Nigerians.
“These players are professional footballers and there are processes for invitation, you don’t just bump into them and say come and play, that is very unprofessional and I never did that,” Keshi explained.
Keshi has now set his sights on leading his team to victory against the Bafana Bafana,to secure their first three points in the group.
“We are the champions of Africa and we must start showing that not only against Bafana but in all our remaining games,” he said.
