A coalition of NGOs on Monday said it has endorsed former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to contest the 2015 presidency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The spokesperson for the group, Mr Lukman Yakub, who announced this at a news conference in Sokoto, said that the groups were drawn from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
"Atiku Abubakar's commitment to service for his country is enviable having had over half a century of work in different sectors of Nigeria's socio-economic life.
"Atiku Abubakar’s enviable experience in the public service confers on him a complete insight into requirements for the delivery of service to Nigerians," Yakub said.
He said that the status of the former vice president as a major entrepreneur in Nigeria, Africa and the world, qualified him as the “most capable Nigerian” to head the nation's economic transformation.
"Atiku Abubakar is the most de-tribalised leader in Nigeria, with close links to various citizens at all levels in the nation.
"The Turaki has proved beyond doubt, his willingness to provide good governance," Yakub said.
