Dumo Lulu-Briggs, a Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner and ardent critic of Governor Rotimi Amaechi has joined the race for the governorship seat in Rivers state come 2015
Lulu-Briggs who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party announced his ambition today.
Lulu-Briggs said governance should be people-oriented adding that if given the mandate his administration would give the people of the state a sense of belonging.
Briggs urged states and local governments to always carry the people along in their day-to-day running of their administration.
"We need to have a better society. We need to have a society that is caring. We need to have a society that will no longer monopolize prosperity. We must have a society that will share prosperity. And we have been so prosperous, so loved by God, so gifted by God. But, we have a prosperity that has left more than 90 per cent of its people behind.
"All of that has to change. But we need to have a government that will accommodate everybody, all of us. For those reasons, we have to run this race. We are not going to run because there is an opportunity but because we understand that there is a lot of work to be done.”
On security, he said the best way to tackle insecurity was to have the right policies that would ensure stability in the polity.
