Less than 24 hours after a group of Northern elders declared support for President Goodluck Jonathan, a youth group, the Northern Patriotic Youths for Development, NPYD has thrown its weight behind Jonathan’s second term ahead of the 2015 election. “We have agreed to support Jonathan and our son, Namadi Sambo, for the 2015 ticket,” the group said.
The group with members from the 19 northern states said there was no need to continue to fight a lost battle and that is why it came out fully like the Northern Elders Council to support Jonathan and Sambo. According to NPYD, the North has no reason to clamour for power now when Jonathan and his Vice, who is from the North, are doing well.
