According to a report by the UK Sunday Times,Hayatou was fingered as one of the people who received bribes to vote for the oil-rich nation to get the hosting rights for the World Cup.
On its website cafonline.com,the African football ruling body refuted the claims adding that it was an attempt to smear the image of CAF's president and the continent.
In CAF's statement,Hayatou claimed that he never took money in exchange to vote for Qatar to win the hosting rights of the 2022 World Cup.
