Security screening has commenced for five financial experts who have been tipped as possible replacements for Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, CBN governor when the later retires on June 1.
Among those been screened by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) are the current Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), Mr. Mustafa Chike-Obi ;Managing Director/CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mr. Stephen Olabisi Onasanya; pioneer Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Plc, Mr. Atedo Peterside; serving Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Olusegun Aganga and immediate past Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.
More candidates are expected to join the five later. Whoever succeeds Sanusi will be the 11th central bank governor in Nigeria.
