About 52 Nigerians have been arrested and remanded in jail in the Indian coastal city of Goa for violently protesting the death of one of them. Goa is the smallest state in India but the richest and with the best quality of life.
The protest has shook India as the Nigerians numbering about 150 blocked the National Highway in Parra village in the Bardez sub-district of North Goa on Thursday and even attacked the police that came to disperse them as they smashed a police van.
The charges against the detained Nigerians include attempt to murder, rioting, attacking public servants (police) on duty, destruction of public property and blocking National Highway.
