Eight leaders of the radical Islamic sect, Madinatu Muheenu Hamdallah, recently dislodged from Lapai in Niger State, have been arraigned at a Minna Magistrates’ Court.

They are facing a two-count charge of operating illegal Islamic school and preaching without licence.

The accused are Mohammed Abubakar, Musa Hamza, Yusuf Usman, Aliyu Mohammed, Abubakar Hamza, Umaru Mohammed, Alfa Mohammed and Aliyu Abubakar.

The Magistrate, Maimuna Abubakar, however, refused to grant them bail and ordered the accused to be remanded in Minna Prison.

Abubakar said this would allow the DSS to complete investigations in respect of their accounts in various banks.

The matter was adjourned to July 30 for further hearing.
