The Customs boss made this known during a meeting he convened to discuss various areas of leakages and put in place measures to block them. According to him, if this is actualized, the service will be able to generate up to N1.6 trillion annually.

He also directed the area comptrollers to take full control of their areas as they will be held responsible for staff conduct and discipline in their respective jurisdictions.

The new Customs boss, Atte, took over the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday, August 18, following the voluntary retirement of the former CGC, Abdulahi Dikko, after serving six years as the CGC.

Before this appointment, Atte was the deputy comptroller general (DCG) in charge of Finance Administration and Technical Service (FATS).
