Business Adamawa: National Directorate of Employment Trains 150,000

Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, the director-general of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Monday in Yola at the launching of Sen. Ahmed Barata Strategic Empowerment Scheme announced that more than 150,000 persons has benefited from its skilled acquisition training since inception in Adamawa.

He said 45,000 of the beneficiaries were trained in Rural Agricultural Training Scheme (RATS) and Rural Handicraft Scheme (RHS).

He added that more than 100,000 persons in the state were trained in vocational and technical trades like fashion designing, carpentry, tailoring, auto mechanic, hair dressing and electrical installation.

He also said more than 10,000 were trained in landscaping and environmental beautification.

The coordinator said that 600 of the beneficiaries had so far been resettled with seed funds to enhance quest to be self employed.

He commended Barata for partnering with NDE in alleviating the hardship of members of his constituency through the training of 360 beneficiaries.

Barata said the beneficiaries would be provided with inputs as part of his poverty alleviation programme.

They were presented with sewing machines, grinding machines and water pumps.
