Nigeria - Mr. Akinwumi Adesina, the newly elected President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) and former Minister of Agriculture, has vowed to eradicate poverty in Africa, THISDAY reports.
He said this during a courtesy call on the Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun in Abeokuta.
Adesina said he would use his tenure as the president of the bank to ensure poverty is not a comparative advantage of Africa through infrastructural development, job creation, regional integration and development of agriculture at the rural level.
He added that his emergence as AfDB president would serve as a beacon of hope to Africa and Nigeria, pointing out that his emergence would open a new vista in the developmental drives of the continent.
