A 19-year-old Senior Secondary School 3 student, Lucky Benson, was arraigned on Tuesday in an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Iyanganku for alleged breach of peace.

Benson, a student of Community Grammar School, Mokola, Ibadan, was arraigned on a four-count charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

The prosecutor, Insp Samad Aliu, alleged that Benson conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace in the school.

Aliu told the court that Benson used a razor blade to make an incision on the left hand of one Ahmed Faruk and three other boys in the school.

The prosecutor, who said Benson committed the offence on May 28 at about 2 p.m. in his school, argued that the offence contravened section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code Cap. 38, Vol. 11, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty when his plea was taken.

The counsel to the accused, Mr Lanre Shittu, pleaded that the accused be released on bail because he was writing the ongoing NECO examination.

Chief Magistrate Olaide Amzat granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He, however, said the surety must be a relation.

Amzat, who handed over the accused to his father, Imolede Omokheowa, warned him not to intimidate or harm any of the four complainants in the school.

He adjourned the case till July 16 for hearing.
