River State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has extended the olive branch to the factional Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, seeking an end to the crisis bedeviling the NGF.
The NGF was split into two in May 2013 when Governor Jang and his supporters in NGF refused to accept the re-election of Amaechi as the chairman of the NGF in an election won by Amaechi with 19 to 16 votes.
However, speaking at the opening session of the fourth Retreat of the NGF under his leadership held at the Banquet Hall of the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, Amaechi noted that the division is not good for the image of the NGF and Nigeria democracy in general.
