Five candidates in the November 16 governorship election in Anambra finally found their voice and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fast-track the proposed supplementary election and declare a winner.

They made the call in Awka on Thursday while addressing newsmen.

Mr Godson Okoye, the candidate of the United Democratic Party (UDP), who spoke on behalf the others, said the supplementary poll would save the state from the prevailing charged atmosphere.

He described the governorship poll as peaceful, free and fair and appealed to aggrieved candidates to sheath their swords for peace to reign.

He said the misconduct of one official of INEC should not be the basis for wholesale condemnation of INEC or the call for total cancelation of the election.

The other candidates at the conference were Mr Tony Anene of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Mr Webseter Okonkwo of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Mr Leonard Uchendu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party Prince (NNPP) and Mr Simon Okafor of the Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP).
