Nine are arrested at the London protest, with similar 'Million Mask March' events taking place in America, Australia and Europe.
Hundreds of masked protesters descended on Buckingham Palace and Parliament Square last night as part of a worldwide demonstration against austerity cuts.
A fire was started just yards from the gate of the Palace and a total of nine people were arrested in connection with the London protests, police said.
Riot police were called in to monitor the demonstrations, in which glass bottles were thrown.
The Anonymous movement, which co-ordinated the protests, wrote on its Facebook page: “Remember who your enemies are: billionaires who own banks and corporations who corrupt politicians who enslave the people in injustice.”
