Four people in Enugu; a hairdresser, her lover and 2 others have been arrested for their involvement in a 'baby factory business'.

According to reports, the hairdresser, Ifeoma Obike uses her shop as cover-up and when police stormed her residence which she shares with her lover, a pregnant girl was discovered.

The girl, Ujunwa Egbe was promised N100,000 upon delivery of the child. She said she was impregnated by someone mistakenly and she wanted to abort the pregnancy at first.

She met with an Obinna Arum of Obofia Amechi Awkunanaw on the abortion issue and he referred her to Obike to be taken care of.

full investigations have commenced on the matter.

Am I the only one to observe that these 'baby factories' are all located in the east?

As much as I condemn these ever growing "baby factories" - selling of babies for money - one has to admit that it gives the baby a fighting chance to live. Abortion has seen wastage of potentials and maybe destinies - if you believe in such.

Although many have abused it, the story of Ujunwa Egbe is one of such cases where her baby will saved rather than aborted.

It is ethically wrong to subject a child to such horrific trade. Unwanted pregnancy, abortion, and parents seeking children to adopt are conditions that can be found in any society.

Fighting this "baby factory" owners is posing some difficulty because some government officials engage in their services.

@phealip, teenage pregnancy should be eradicated.*not the pregnancy itself*. That's the best solution.
Also orphanages should be well catered for.
