According to the PUNCH newspaper, the Federal Government of Nigeria has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to shut down their revenue accounts with Deposit Money Banks by February 28, 2015.
The Government has made this order and unveiled an electronic revenue collection platform which will be used as a measure to check theft, fund diversion and oher corrupt practices associated with revenue collection.
The balances from the current revenue accounts will then be moved to the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the Federal Government.
Any MDA that refuses to obey this directive will be sanctioned as appropriate.
