Louis Van Gaal got his first taste of life in the English Premier League after seeing his Manchester United team lose their first game of the season in a 1-2 home loss to visiting Swansea City.

In what should have been a departure from the David Moyes' era, there wasn't much of a difference as the Red Devils ended up losing.

A team said to be on a rebuilding process, over eight first team players were missing and so glaring was also the need for United to reinforce.

Swansea in different shades of the game gave Manchester United something to worry about.

Ki Seung Yi was given an ample space at the edge of the box for the Korean to slot the ball beyond David De Gea for the opening goal.

With the home team pegged back,it was expected that having gone behind that they will be compelled to go for the kill.

Adnan Januzaj brought belief when he replaced Jesse Lingaard who was taken off injured, running the channels with some invention.

Van Gaal made changes, taking off Javier Hernandez to bring on Nani at the start of the second half.

The urgency came into United's play and they did get a goal through Wayne Rooney who met a flick on from a corner kick to equalize for United

Rooney had an opportunity to give United the lead, crashing a free-kick onto the post.

But lightning struck twice and Swansea got their lead when Gylfi Sigurdsson found the net.

The timing of the goal didn't give United time to recover and with less than fifteen minutes there was to be late show at Old Trafford.

Having seen how open United were and their susceptibility to the opposition,it is left to be seen if Van Gaal will be forced to buy players before the close of the transfer window.

Noteworthy,Moyes won his opening game last season, coincidentally against Swansea, but it should be noted that these are two different eras now.
