The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC of using the creation of 19 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) as a cover-up to siphon about N10 billion from the state’s treasury; The SUN reported.
A statement issued by PDP Ekiti Publicity Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, said that the money was part of the accumulated slashed allocations due to the 16 local government areas in the state since the coming of the outgoing APC administration in October 2010 and other foreign and local aids collected by the government of the state since then.
The PDP further said that a special account was being operated in one of the first generation banks since 2010, where the money had been kept with stern instructions that under no circumstances should it be withdrawn for any purpose until the issue of the local council development areas started. The PDP also said that council caretaker chairmen had been bribed to cover up the fraud.
