Ohaneze Ndigbo has adopted the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the political party for Ndigbo. The group also said that Senator Chris Ngige though well loved by the people of Anmabra State,Nigeria lost the gubernatorial election because Igbos did not want to be associated with APC which had been identified with the Yorubas.
Elder Chris Eluemuno, President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State chapter who made the disclosure said that the Igbo race needed to have its own political platform like the Yorubas which he said, established the APC. He urged Igbo people all over Nigeria to work hard and ensure that the APGA succeeds.
Eluemuno also condemned the attack on the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, by the Yoruba press, claiming that the minister’s offence was that she elevated Enugu Airport to an international status and some people were not happy with that. He called on the President not to be intimidated by the attack, adding that Ohaneze Ndigbo would always give support to the Aviation Minister. He said: “We want to warn that if anything happens to that woman, the nation would not be at rest. She has done so much for the country and we cannot destroy what she had done over night”.
The Igbo leader urged all Igbos to support President Jonathan come 2015.
