A division amongst senators has been caused by the report of the Senate Joint Committee on National Security and Intelligence and Judiciary over issues of Human Rights and Legal Matters due to Sen. Sani Saleh (APC- Kaduna) rejection of the results after it was presented by Sen. Mohammed Magoro (PDP-Kebbi), the Chairman of the Joint Committee.

The report stated that the Apo killing of eight people and eleven wounded occurred as a result of hastily executed operation, not of extra-judicial killing as was earlier suspected, necessitated by electronic interceptions which divulged plans to attack the Federal Capital Territory on September 22, 2013.

The four arrested suspects in this case are thought to be members of Boko Haram, and more are also being thought to have been assimilated amongst residents.
