The former Real madrid winger showed why he was worth the British-record of £57.9 million transfer fee to bring him to Old Trafford from Real Madrid by scoring one goal and creating three others, for Sergio Aguero, Erik Lamela and Federico Fernandez.

Chelsea's Andre Schurrle and Bayern Munich's Mario Gotze managed to cancel 2 out of the for goals for Germany but the night belonged to Di Maria, who towered high above every other player on the pitch.

"Angel Di Maria has demonstrated why he is one of the five best players in the world," the former Barcelona boss told reporters after what was his first game in charge of the Albiceleste.

Martino didn't have captain Lionel Messi in the game, but he was satisfied with the performances of his players .
