Passengers who were scheduled to fly two Arik Air flights revolted at the Benin airport yesterday according to eyewitnesses.
Many of the passengers were due to take a 4:30pm flight to Abuja and a 5pm flight to Lagos only to be told by Arik Air staff that there was no fuel.
After the passengers were checked in, words spread around that the two aircraft available had been chartered by Dangote Cement staff who were returning from an official function. This act led to a full scale revolt by the passengers as they believed that those aircraft were meant for them.
No Arik Air staff was however available as they have all checked out.
