18 days after he was arrested by the DSS in a commando operation at the Ekiti house of assembly, Hon Akanni Afolabi, has been freed.
Last week, he was the subject of a death scare with Governor Ayo Fayose alleging that the'd died in DSS detention.
However, he was immediately admitted in a private hospital in Abuja for treatment after his release.
The lawmaker was very weak and could barely speak when newsmen visited him at the hospital. He was receiving intravenous fluid in the private hospital at the time. He kept repeating “I am not well. I am sick. I am sick.” reports say.

He, however, disclosed that he was treated for malaria at the DSS detention facility after he collapsed two times. He said his release may not be unconnected with his deteriorating health situation, adding that he was not told by the DSS operatives why he was he held.
