A SaharaReporters source reports that the Cameroonian authorities paid the Boko Haram group a ransom of $400,000 before the wife of Prime Minister Amadou Ali, Francoise Agnes Moukouri was released.
"In addition, the Cameroonian government agreed to release four commanders of the Islamist group who had been in Cameroonian jails.," says the newspaper.
Sahara Reporters says in addition to this, Boko Haram asked for, and received, a significant quantity of arms and ammunition, and Cameroon's assurance that the weapons would be safely delivered to the sect's fighters.
"Boko Haram insurgents had abducted Mrs. Ali in July from the town of Kolofata. The insurgents also seized the town’s district head.," says Sahara reporters.
