According to the Daily Mail, the Boko Haram killing of 2,500 Nigerians has been shown to be true in some 'shocking new satellite images'

The destruction caused by Islamist militants in Nigeria when they slaughtered an estimated 2,500 people have been revealed in shocking new satellite images.

Last week, the terror group caused worldwide outrage - and outrageous silence from the Nigerian President - after they brutally slaughtered men, women and children as they attacked Baga and Doron Baga towns.

New images gotten from Amnesty International have shown the extent of damage - more than 3,700 buildings (including houses and schools) totally destroyed.

A 25-year old truck driver named Ibrahim Gambo survived the attack, but doesn't know yet if his wife and kid did as well.

His account: 'As we were running for our lives, we came across many corpses, both men and women, and even children.

'Some had gunshot wounds in the head and some had their legs bound and hands tied behind their backs.'

The town, after the attack.

Maybe the residents just fled the town - explains the low no of reds in the after attack map

Looks like the down has been burnt down sir.
Yes, explains why there isn't much people alive in the town.

Until the satellites can identify dead bodies on the ground, this 2,000 claim should be taken with a pinch of salt.

People can't stay in burnt towns, they'll have to leave, escape outside of the danger area.

Whether 2000 was bloated or not, truth is that human lives should be hallowed. Toying and debating about the actual figures shows that we no longer value human existence.

The figures are important for accountability
What accountability have you done in the last six years that this war has been on? So many times we have heard reports from official channels, but at the end it happens to be contradictory. I give you an instance, the Nyanya bombings, NEMA placed the casualty figures at around 80 or thereabout. However some Journos personally counted over 120..... so don't come here and sell me "some accountability dummies."

It's never too late to become accountable; is that not what change entails? Besides, often times journalists who weren't on the scene announce figures from 'hearsay'

If only Nigeria had its own journalists on ground. Every single piece of info I've gotten about the Baga carnage has been from foreign media - BBC was days ahead of native media in reporting on the first day of the attacks.

Which reminds me - do we have a satellite in the sky or not? I can't be sure again...

We have a satellites, but we hardly use 'em for any thing other than weather report.

Maybe Nigerian Bulletin will send you to Borno to interview some of the internally displaced persons. How about starting from a place like Gwoza??
