Basketball clubs insists NBBF owe them

The controversy between the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) and the Basketball clubs that played the Atlantic Conference playoffs,is yet to abate with the clubs insisting that they are owed by the Federation.
Last week the NBBF denied claims by the clubs,that they promised to pay them some money for making the playoffs of their respective conferences.
But the clubs over the weekend at a media briefing insisted that the NBBF is not saying the truth.
“One would have ignored the outright falsehood and innuendos in the manner unexpected of a leader by which Umar(NBBF President) spoke,”Dodan Warriors Proprietor,Colonel Sam Ahmedu was quoted as saying on The Punch.
“However, in his tirade he sought to portray my club and others in the DStv League as irresponsible to say the least.”
“It is indeed laughable and an insult to the integrity of Nigerian basketball that a president of a federation does not know the difference between a regular season and playoffs and chose to lump the playoff tournaments just held in the Savannah and Atlantic Conferences as part of the regular season.
“After a regular season, the next stage is the playoffs and then the national finals. This system was copied from the NBA and other advanced leagues across the globe and no amount of cover-up or adjusting the name will change that.”
