Real Madrid put up a masterclass performance to dump out the defending champions,Bayern Munich and qualify for the finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The Spanish team recorded an unprecedented 4-0 away win at the Allianz Arena, qualifying 5-0 on aggregate to underline their superiority against the Germans.

Two goals each by Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo made Bayern look ordinary in a game that they hardly inspired confidence.

Trailing by 1-0 from the first leg,Bayern was expected to hit the ground running and make their home advantage count, but it was Real who burst off the blocks quickly.

Gareth Bale came close with the game's first real chance of scoring, volleying his effort past the post after Manuel Neuer came out of his lines to head the ball to him.

But it didn't take long before Madrid got in behind Bayern. Luka Modric's corner kick found Sergio Ramos who dropped in a bit to head past Neuer for the opening goal.

With Bayern obviously needing goals to go through,Madrid held their ground and looked to capitalise on loop holes.

Ramos made it 2-0 to give Bayern a mountain to climb, equally heading in a set-piece from Angel Di Maria's free-kick.

It stunned Bayern but Madrid weren't done yet. Carlo Ancelotti's team caught Bayern on the break,Karim Benzema setting up Bale and the Welshman unselfishly guiding it to Ronaldo who made sure it ended in the net for 3-0.

By then it was all over for Bayern, even before the first half finished. Pep Guardiola's team looked out of sorts as they struggled to find an opening to walk into Madrid's goal.

Their passing game continued into the second half, but there was no penetration neither an end product,in fact Iker Casillas was never ruffled.

The final nail on the coffin saw Ronaldo belt his free-kick underneath Bayern's wall to seal the fourth goal and condemn Guardiola to his worst ever result as a manager.

Ronaldo has now become the first player in history to score 16 goals in one Champions League season, now third highest goalscorer on 66,one behind Lionel Messi who has 67 and five behind Real Madrid legend,Raul on 71 goals.

Bayern has now joined other clubs who have failed to successfully defend the Champions League title,no club has ever won it back to back in the open era.

Real Madrid on their part are on a quest to win their elusive La Decima Champions League title, and they now await the winner of the tie between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, whom they will meet in the finals to be played next month in Lisbon,Portugal.

Pep played to Madrid's strength. He also didn't change his approach. The same tactics shouldn't be used for all teams. He's learnt his lesson the bitter way.

P.S. CR7's freekick was superb!
