No fewer than seven persons have been feared killed in a renewed hostilities between Fulani herdsmen and Agatu farmers in Benue last Sunday.
Daily Sun gathered that the herders invaded some communities in the riverine Agatu area at about 10am on Sunday and continued fighting until late into the night.
Running mate to the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Hon. John Ngbede, a native of Agatu told Daily Sun that there was heavy fighting in the area which led to the death of seven people while several houses and farmlands were destroyed.
Recall that incidents of Fulani invasion on Agatu and other parts of Benue have continued to be a recurring decimal with heavy human and material casualties until the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, on assumption of office, extended amnesty to as many as were ready to surrender their arms.
