The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Prosecution, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla has said the call by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and others for referendum was a wasted effort, and without sense.

Speaking with The Sun, the Presidential aide noted that restructuring would not solve the myriad of problems confronting the nation.

He said, “The demand for a referendum with regards to Biafra is a constitutional impossibility.

“It is a legal and political impossibility. There is no provision in the constitution of the country or any other law that provides for a part of the country to break away.

“It is a nonsensical demand. Biafra ended on the January 15, 1970. I think the agitators are just expressing their rights to freedom of expression.

Noting that agitators are just expressing their freedom of speech, the presidential aide said they are just wasting their time on the call for referendum.

He said, “The international law does not take precedence over the Nigerian constitution. If you want to ratify any treaty or international convention, the National Assembly has to approve it.

“You cannot begin to use the international law to deal with municipal, local and national issues.

“Let them stop wasting their time. There is nothing like that. The agitators are just wasting their time and that is why I am saying that they are just expressing their right to the freedom of expression.”

What a high level of ignorance. This man is not any office that requires mental intelligence. He is just a disgrace to the person that sent him to school because he can't see with his eyes of education. He is really ignorant of the trends of life.

Where the hell is this stupid man from?
He is from Pluto where no good reasoning for the welfare of mankind exists. There, you don't even see yourself let alone seeing others. He is not even seeing himself to understand the error he is committing against humanity with his utterances. Pluto man he is.

Hmmm... Mr. Samuel, it would have been well if you can bring your own view to fore with concrete explanation. The best argument should win.

Let's have your angle, backed with facts and figures if possible. Convince me why Referendum is next thing to do and fault constitution and the Presidency :)
MY ANGLE WITH FACTS: Biafra agitation is not a youthful exuberant matter or a local idea as ignorantly perceived. Western world or developed nations have not experienced protests or agitations of this magnitude before. The leaders of the IPOB have technological intelligence, the have media command, their intelligence and wisdom is powerful than physical powers and that of arms. Under rating the agitators is Jokiology (an act or study of joking). Biafra never has died, instead their reasoning and rationalism about Biafra Determination died. They were seeing dreams of Biafra death but never saw Vision of Biafra Sovereignty. Wisdom is a disastrous and unsummountable tool of warfare especially in lobbying. Since 1970 after the civil war, Biafra has been applying Wisdom in restrategization and not dead. Biafra since and before 1970 is like a chronic disease which cannot be cured but managed. Yet unlike/worse than a chronic disease, Biafra has no management. It cannot be managed in Nigeria. Biafra was forcefully betrothed to Nigeria and Biafra wants a Divorce. Of course no marriage plans for divorce yet if the need arises, to maintain peace in the home, it must be consented to. Nigeria is said to be democratic and listening to Biafra agitators is a do or do affair. Facts include international awarenesses and supports. What is the law saying about self determination, an illegal movement? Why did the court find it difficult to nail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu even with all their manipulations of the proceedings? Why has he not been rearrested? Why have international communities not sent security troops/aids to Nigeria to silence the agitators or for peace to reign? *Human right and fundamental human right* join social media polls to see results(figures). See all opinions on this Biafra agitation and get answers for yourself. Other regions are already tired of the Biafra matter even you and are ready to let go of them but personal aggrandisement is the problem. Their target is to finish the oil reserve first and drain oil deposit in the south, siphon the revenue to development of the North...

Ask that man.. simple question.. name five sources of Nigeria constitution.. we make reference to international laws.. like the English receive law. He is just afraid of Biafrans. Bri-exit.. biafra-exit.. Referendum is a civil right to vote either to remain in a country or not.. that man is an illiterate.. watch him he is stealing from Nigeria.

Mr Okoi, when you said that, “The demand for a referendum with regards to Biafra is a constitutional impossibility" can you please Show us where restructuring is contain in the constitution. You constitution is a fraudulent document and that's why you having agitations here and there. If nothing serious is done soonest, the country will blow before your eyes but I pray didn't happen.

REFERENDUM IS THE BEST OPTION: It is a viable instrument for liberty and actualisation of self determination. To us, referendum remains the only democratic instrument to measure the
position of people on issue that dwells on their survival and continuity in a corporate entity, among other pertinent issues. Referendum is a peaceful measure and an ideal measure for Restructuring Nigeria. It happened in many countries like Serbia (2008), Indonesia (1999), Sudan(2011), etc. Despite the level of development and sophistication of United Kingdom and its people, the Irish were given the opportunity to have clear position on the issue of their continuity with that entity; the same thing could be replicated here in Nigeria. The concept of indivisibility of a nation state like Nigeria should be predicated on
choice, and not coercion. The only way such freedom could be exercised to the fullest is through the concept of REFERENDUM, where people freely decide their fate on such issues. Nigeria is a multinational state, it was not originally one. Amalgamation (artificial political selection) made it one. Because of that, what we have is an uneasy coexistence of different nationalities, (3 in 1 countries according to OBJ). Some of these nationalities are bigger than many of the states in Africa. If you, for instance, separate the Igbo, they are bigger than Benin Republic, Mauritania and other countries. Same goes for the Yoruba, Hausa/Fulani and others in the geo-political zones. So, we are talking about nationalities that are big enough to be independent states of their own. Due to the deceptive nature of the government, history is not in the school curriculum if it was, children would know it before now that the amalgamation agreement was 100 years lifespan...
Restructuring is like covering a mess or feaces with sand; in a short while the malodour will begin to discomfort breathing. If you say Restructure Nigeria, it is like saying Destroy Nigeria. Restructuring could also mean adding something or Removing/Reducing something. The man is very unscrupulous: he does not even want Restructuring (because he understands the meaning) instead he dreams a continued present nature of Nigeria.

Really, he must be siphonist.

NIGERIA CONSTITUTION IS FAULTY:
We need the referendum clause in our constitution; the process should be included too. It allows public participation and raises the consciousness of the masses with regard to the law-making process. It does not accommodate excesses that slow down the machinery of good governance.
If the people have the right to reject, approve or disapprove, then it would keep the legislators on their toes and make the legislative business a priority.
If we had referendum in our laws, the issue of Biafra or Niger Delta would have long been settled. Everyone’s opinion would have been sorted and the majority
decision would stand.
There are lots of challenges facing our country that a simple referendum in the constitution would have easily solved ranging from oil spillages, federal allocation, herdsmen grazing reserve, state police and local government autonomy BUT THE LAW MAKERS WOULD NOT WANT TO INCLUDE IT BECAUSE OF self aggrandisement. Ok, you just heard him say if the international bodies try to interfer, it has to pass through the legislature. So any good thing of public interest/welfare and not for gain of the legislators would not scale through the readings.
The non-inclusion of the clause and others in the constitution is a deliberate attempt and until it is rectified, the real change would not come. Our constitution itself derives its legitimacy from the people. If the constitution derives its legitimacy from the masses, why can’t decisions that are very
important to our growth and
development be settled by the people through direct participation?
Referendum is not in Nigeria’s
constitution as of now, we know but it was a deliberate attempt by the drafters of the law. The omission is not only dubious, but also an attempt to erase direct participation of the masses in the
policy making of a country.
It can be well argued that we have elected representatives in our legislative arm of government; but the question is, do their decisions reflect the mind or the general opinion of the masses in all instances? The
answer is no.SO, THE POINT IS THAT THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT COMPLETE. THERE ARE ALSO PROVISIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES OR BODIES THAT NIGERIA CONSENTED TO AND SHOULD APPLY IN DEALING WITH NATIONAL MATTERS BUT MANY OF THEM ARE MISSING NOT BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT THE LEARNED MASSES KNOW ABOUT THEM FOR INSTANCE, Articles of the United Nations Charter and that of the African Charter of Human and Peoples Rights which Nigeria is a signatory to, supports self-determination and it is binding on Nigeria.
