Prominent Nigerian economist and economic commentator, Bismarck Rewane, has denied being appointed by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, to negotiate with the Federal Government over ongoing crisis in the Niger Delta on its behalf.
"MEND's appointment to dialogue with FGN not ME. Do not know MEND or support any militancy therefore cannot represent MEND," Mr. Rewane said.
MEND had named Rewane, ex Petroleum Minister Odein Ajumogobia, and others as members of a 7 -man team appointed to discuss with the Federal Government.
Bismarck Rewane is the Managing Director of Financial Derivative Company, FDC, a financial services company headquartered in Lagos.
